

Backgrounds:
I carried out a research of local coffee shop during the time of spring festival which is a rather special period for Chinese. So the coffee shops are having much more customers than usual, all the places are filled with relaxing people gathering and chatting.

This is a map of the most popular local coffee shops that I visited during this research. Different from those big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, my hometown is relatively small city and the coffee culture is a arising trend rather than a daily necessity. To better study the local coffee culture, I chose the cafes that are opened by local people instead of chain coffee shop like Starbucks.


Firstly, I draw a mind map to sort of my thought on the questions of which aspects I want to study about in this project. For example: who likes to go to coffee shop? Which age group like the most? Why do they want to go in? What do they do in there? What are they frustrated about and happy about the experience in a coffee shop?


I sent out a online questionnaire on WeChat in the chat group of local people.
Decoration and coffee flavor to meet friends are three main reasons to walk in a coffee shop.
